The history of the Tremiti Islands is intricately linked to the myth of the Greek hero Diomedes. According to legend, Diomedes threw three large blocks of stone into the sea, brought from Troy, which gave rise to San Domino, San Nicola, and Capraia. Upon his death, his companions were transformed by Aphrodite into seabirds, the Diomedea, which still inhabit the cliffs of the islands today and emit a unique song at night, resembling the cry of a baby, mourning the loss of their king. Come and listen to their song during our evening excursions!
